In contrast, the actual beach area is fronted by hundreds of high-end condominiums and is one of the most popular vacation spots among the young, wealthy crowd from as far away as Medellin, Bogota and Cali.
Situated at the north end of the city, 20 minutes from the old fort, Playa La Boquilla is well-known for having excellent wind conditions for related sports such as wind and kite surfing. Additionally, there is a large tourism industry in fishing, diving and jet-skiing.
