17 Jun Plaza de la Aduana – Cartagena
Worth visiting for the elegant, colorful architecture, Plaza de la Aduana is one of the most extensive areas in the walled city, with many restaurants, banks and exchange shops – beware, it is always a good idea to shop around for the best exchange rate before deciding on any specific vendor.
The square itself is very beautiful, surrounded by equally stunning buildings. It’s a great place for memorable photographs and is often converted into an open-air concert venue and hosts many great events in the city including the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival which uses the square as an open-air cinema, showcasing many of the festivals featured films.
If you are visiting in December and/or January be sure to check out the plaza for the spectacular display of Christmas lights the city puts up during this special time of year.
