Playa de Oro

Twenty minutes from the centre of town and 7 km from La Boquilla, Manzanillo del Mar was once a sleepy old fishing village populated by ancestors of escaped slaves.  If you’re looking for a beach where you can truly relax, separate from crowds and hawkers, this is it.

The sand is black, so it’s quite hot – make sure you bring sandals and a thick towel if you intend to lie down.

The crowd nowadays is much more affluent than in past and it’s common to see families parked on the beach on the weekend, enjoying the day with a bbq around the back of their truck.  Manzanillo del Mar has a reputation of offering one of the most authentic Colombian beach experiences in Cartagena.
