07 Jun Cafe Mila
Cafe Mila Spoil your senses with a leisurely breakfast or afternoon coffee break at the ever so charming .Cafe Mila This all-day bakery and dessert spot is located just around the corner from the Cathedral in the Old Town.
The pastelería, is owned by Bogotá native, Camila (Mila) Vargas who is now living in Cartagena and offers a spectrum of tasty creations from sandwiches on fresh-baked bread to decadent chocolate brownies in her cute little cafe. Café Mila, nestled on the corner of Calle de la Iglesia and Calle de la Estrella, offers an upscale European twist on traditional Colombian cuisine. Although her sweet pastries certainly take the cake, Cafe Mila also serves impeccably prepared lunch and dinner options including soups, sandwiches, wraps, salads and full flavour enters.
Unfortunately brunch culture hasn’t quite hit Cartagena yet but Mila is putting the traditional New York style brunch on the map by offering an array of breakfast options, turning her busy little cafe into a popular breakfast/lunch hot spot.
The pastries here are delightfully alluring, decadent and rich, you can find everything from cupcakes, flan, rich chocolate cakes with gold-flaked icing, croissants, churros, savoury pastries and more. Our personal favourite is the brownies, there are about 5 different types including a Nutella Brownie, Oreo Cookie Brownie and a Milo Brownie which is said to be the most popular.
They also serve one of the best cups of coffee in town and have a wide variety of specialty coffees, fresh fruit juices and they make a mean limonada de coco. Whatever your tastebuds are craving, you will be sure to find the perfect match for your sweet tooth.
